But there it was, sitting in his downloads folder with a generic grey thumbnail. Curiosity, fueled by late-night insomnia, won over caution. He double-clicked. On the video, the man turned around Across the street, then down the block, and eventually throughout the city, thousands of monitors flickered to life, showing Elias sitting in his kitchen, staring at the fridge. Elias felt a chill. That was his kitchen. That was the same dent in the toaster from when he’d dropped it moving in. He looked down at his own hands, then back at the screen. The man on the screen mirrored his movements exactly. |
