It is heavily inspired by the "Art Deco" aesthetic, bearing a strong visual resemblance to the BioShock series. However, while BioShock is a shooter, Close to the Sun is primarily a "hide-and-seek" horror/puzzle game.
The primary draw is wandering through the decaying, gold-plated halls of the Helios . The environment tells a story of hubris and scientific obsession.
Lacking combat mechanics, the player must run from threats. These scripted sequences require quick reflexes and pathfinding.
